A Trip Down Memory Lane...

Image
Good Morning! Our computer has been receiving some TLC, so after a week away, we are finally back to posting!  I've been going through a lot of old pictures lately, and I was reminded of a lot of things in Disneyland that are now rides of the past. Some were removed recently, and some were removed when I was a little girl. I thought it would be fun to take a trip through Memory Lane as we explore some of our favorite rides that are now long gone! 1. Hollywood Tower Hotel (Tower of Terror) This will always be my favorite ride. I was crushed when they decided to give Tower of Terror a Guardians of the Galaxy make-over. I do like the new ride, but Tower of Terror just had such an amazing attention to detail and that classic creepy, haunted feel. As amazing as Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! is, it will never beat the beat-up, lightning-struck Hollywood Tower Hotel. Rest in Peace HTH. This picture was taken in 2014 when I was new to Instagram and super obsess...

Make Waiting in Lines Fun!

Image
Good Morning & HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Disneyland!  On July 17th, 1955, Disneyland opened up to the public! Even though opening day was a bit of a disaster, Disneyland still welcomed its 1 millionth customer only 7 weeks later. Now, 63 years later, Disneyland is more popular than ever and crowds keep getting bigger and bigger - creating really long lines for popular attractions.  The idea of standing in those long lines is a bit daunting - however, there are some ways to make those wait times a little less boring! Here are a few of our favorite ways to pass the time!  Heads Up! If you have a smart phone, download the app "Heads Up!" (by Ellen DeGeneres.) It's a lot like the game Headbands, and is a mobile version of the game Ellen plays on her show. One person will hold the phone towards the group so they can't see the screen, and the rest of the group tries to get them to guess the words that pop up on the screen. When you are in Disneyland, turn on your locati...

Top 10 Rides in Disneyland

Image
Good Evening!  What are the top 10 rides in Disneyland? Well that's a matter of opinion (and a really tough choice) - but we think we have a pretty good line up! ;) This week: our 10 favorite rides in the Disneyland Resort! (Note: These are in no particular order, just numbered for convenience.) 1. Indiana Jones As a kid, this ride scared me because I didn't like the giant snake animatronic. My dad offered to buy me a Minnie Mouse sweatshirt if I would ride it again with my mom, but I freaked out and would NOT go again. Now, Indiana Jones is probably my favorite ride in Disneyland! (My dad as assured me that the sweatshirt offer does not, in fact, still stand.) The theming is fantastic - not only on the ride, but the queue is so detailed that it completely immerses you in the world of Indiana Jones! You can google the Indiana Jones queue decoder card and walk through to "translate" the writings on the walls through the queue!  Look at the detail just to the o...

Top 5 Favorite Disney Snacks

Image
Good Monday Evening! After two weeks of posting on Tuesdays, we are back on schedule! Photo sent straight from Disneyland! Jack is enjoying his churro today! Last week we talked about our favorite "Can't-Miss Shows" at the Disneyland Resort. This week - our favorite can't-miss snacks! As I mentioned several weeks back , I highly recommend stashing snacks from the store in a bag or backpack to save money throughout the day. However, there's nothing wrong with stopping for an in-park snack or two during your stay! Here are our favorites! (Also a big thanks to my parents and Jack who took a ton of time today to fill my many live-from-the-park photo requests for this post!) 1. Cream Cheese Filled Pretzels. If you have been following our blog for a while, this one will come as no surprise. I LOVE Disney's Cream Cheese Filled Pretzels. You can score one of these at the Refreshment corner or at most pretzel carts around Disneyland and California Advent...

3 Shows You Can't Miss in Disneyland

Image
Good Morning! (In case you missed it: read last week's post about the Best Times to Ride the Busiest Rides  here !!) This week, we explore the entertainment the Disneyland Resort has to offer with our top 3 favorite shows to hit in Disneyland and California Adventure! (Bonus: All three of these shows work with "Glow-with-the-Show" products, which Disneyland sells in the form of Mickey Mouse Ear Hats, Wands, Paint Brushes, etc. These items are designed with Crowd-Sync Technology which makes the items change colors and flash along with the show itself!)  60th Anniversary Sleeping Beauty Castle, Before the Firework Show 1. Fantasmic! Story Time: I remember when I was 5, I watched "Sing A-Long Songs: Disneyland" and at the end, Mickey Mouse shoots fireworks out of his hands and starts the Firework Show over the castle. I was completely convinced that Mickey Mouse could actually do that. My dad kept telling me that it was just a movie, and that Mickey...

Best Times to Ride the Busy Rides

Image
Good Evening (a day late) ! As summer gets into full swing at the Disneyland Resort and the crowds start to multiply, it might be good to have an idea of the best times to ride the busiest rides. Some lines you can't avoid, but here are some pointers for avoiding a few of the longer ones! (In case you missed it: read last week's post about fun things to do in the Disneyland area here !!) Time of Day Something very important to remember is that the closer to the middle of the day it gets, the hotter it is. If you are going to ride a busy ride and the line is mostly outdoors (Fantasyland, Cars Land, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Matterhorn, Big Thunder Mountain etc.), consider riding earlier in the morning or towards the evening when it starts to cool off again. This may not mean a shorter wait, but it does mean you won't overheat! Riding Peter Pan's Flight at night might not get you a shorter wait time, but it will mean not overheating in the hot Summer su...
